On Thursday night, Umphrey’s McGee opened up their three-night Florida run with an exploratory performance at St. Petersburg’s Jannus Live. Miami-based indie-funk outfit Magic City Hippies offered up the evening’s opening set.
Umphrey’s McGee opened up their first set with “There’s No Crying In Mexico”, which smoothly coasted into “Remind Me”. Moving out of “Remind Me”, the sextet continued forward with “Walletsworth” and “Turn & Run”, the latter played for the first time since February 15th, 2018. Umphrey’s continued on with the second Anchor Drops tune of the set, “Mulche’s Odyssey”, which was followed up by a massive set-closing pairing of “Cemetery Walk” into “Cemetery Walk II”.

Following a brief set break, Umphrey’s McGee returned to open up their five-song second set with an extended “Plunger” that clocked in over the 20-minute mark. Moving out of “Plunger”, the band continued on with “Slacker” and “Miami Virtue”, an appropriate tune to warm the Florida faithful up for the band’s Friday night performance in the Magic City. Umphrey’s closed out their set with a pairing of The Police’s “Driven To Tears” into “Kimble”. Fan-favorite “All In Time” served as the evening’s lone encore.
