Vampire Weekend has announced the supporting acts for the upcoming 2020 leg of their Father of the Bride Tour including Twiddle, Kingfish, and Dijon. Vampire Weekend initially announced the 2020 tour during their debut performance at Madison Square Garden earlier this month.
Indie R&B vocalist Dijon will open six of Vampire Weekend’s 2020 shows in late May and early June. Vermont jam quartet Twiddle will jump on the tour for its August leg to offer support on 5 dates in Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Calgary, and Edmonton, respectively. Finally, young blues torch-bearer Christone “Kingfish” Ingram will offer support on six dates in September.
Twiddle, in particular, has been mentioned in the same breath as Vampire Weekend at various points in recent memory. The relationship between the two bands began in 2018 when Vampire Weekend vocalist Ezra Koenig did an entire segment on Twiddle and their song, “JAMFLOWMAN”, on his Time Crisis Podcast. The following week, Koenig invited Twiddle’s Mihali to be a guest on the show. The two later met in person when Koenig attended a Twiddle show at the Troubadour in Los Angeles in March of 2019.
The recently newly announced 2020 leg of Vampire Weekend’s Father of the Bride Tour will kick off on May 29th, 2020 at Westbrook, ME’s Maine Savings Pavilion and make stops in Burlington, VT (5/3o); Gilford, NH (5/31); Lewiston, NY (6/2); Pittsburgh, PA (6/3); Asheville, NC (6/12); Bend, OR (8/9); Boise, ID (8/10); Missoula, MT (8/12); Calgary, AB, Canada (8/14); Edmonton, AB, Canada (8/15); Columbus, OH (9/23); Detroit, MI (9/24); Cedar Rapids, IA (9/26); Lincoln, NE (9/27); Kansas City, MO (9/29); Tulsa, OK (9/30); New Orleans, LA (9/6); and Birmingham, AL (10/7).
