Dumpstaphunk released their first official music video today, for the track “Dancin’ To The Truth” off their latest album Dirty Word. The video takes you front row at a Dumpstaphunk Mardi Gras show at Howlin’ Wolf, as well as features footage of street celebrations in the great city of New Orleans. And for anyone that has been down to the Crescent City, if music is truth, then that truth is most definitely in New Orleans.

“The video reiterates that music is the truth. We are fortunate that there’s still an audience out there that wants to hear music like this, from real musicians playing it live,” keyboardist Ivan Neville said. “But we also left a lot to the imagination, so that people can feel that groove and let it take them wherever they want.”

Dumpstaphunk is made up of Ivan Neville (keys), Tony Hall (guitar/bass), Ian Neville (guitar), Nick Daniels III (bass), and Nikki Glaspie (drums). The band debuted at 2003′s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and as Glaspie says, ““We just hope to spread the good word through funk…If we can create an escape, give people a reason to get down and forget their problems, then we’re doing what we set out to do.”
