Vintage Pistol has the cure for what ails you on the band’s new album, Modern Medicine. The newest full-length release from the rising Fayetteville, AR jam band comes two years after its prior LP Energy.

Just as Energy signaled a rebirth for Vintage Pistol back in 2021, the band continues to grow on Modern Medicine with a more refined, decidedly modern sound. Sleek production coats songs like “The Sinner” allowing layered instrumentation to prop up pointed, focused vocals from singer/guitarist Taylor Smith. Others, like the hard-hitting “Loose Cannon” allude to Vintage P’s status as a powerhouse live act, with many of Modern Medicine‘s songs providing ample springboards for improvisation.

The natural ease and comfort heard on the recordings can be partially credited to the band’s live approach in the studio, coupled with a fraternal bond within the group that grows with each passing show.

“Our new album Modern Medicine, to me, captures a moment in time,” Smith observed. “Specifically, a moment of change, a moment of growth for us as a band as well as personally. Coming off of our first album, which was a lot of music being worked through in the studio, we took a different approach where we had worked the songs up to a point to where we would track them in a live setting. We wanted to capture that live energy, ‘lightning in a bottle’ if you will, and I think we got pretty close! From riff rock jabs, to stripped-down gut punches, to upper-cut dance numbers, Modern Medicine has something for every listener!”

“Over this album you’ll find deep true lyrics over tight grooves throughout,” added keyboardist Garrett August. “We basically locked ourselves away for 4-5 days with [album engineer and mixer] Caleb Gray and put all our intention in making something that represented us during that time of change and almost a rebirth if you will. ”

Vintage Pistol will take Modern Medicine on the road with dates scheduled through the end of 2023. After hitting hotspots throughout the Southeast, Midwest, and a hometown show in Fayetteville on December 22nd, the band will wrap its year with back-to-back Tyler Childers after-shows in Lexington, KY on December 30th and 31st.
