The War On Drugs have released their latest album, LIVE DRUGS, a 10-song compilation of live recordings pulled from 40+ hard drives worth of concert audio from the rock band’s shows over the past five years and mixed together to resemble a 70-minute concert.
The album features a mix of original tunes from their acclaimed 2014 Lost In The Dream LP including “An Ocean Between The Waves”, “Red Eyes”, “Eyes To The Wind”, and “Under The Pressure”, in addition to “Buenos Aires Beach” from 2008’s Wagonwheel Blues, and their cover of Warren Zevon‘s “Accidentally Like A Martyr”.
“It feels like it’s kind of a reset, to be able to put something out that’s a really good interpretation of the way we interpret our music live,” the band’s singer/guitarist Adam Granduciel said with the album’s initial announcement last month. “Even though this recording is from a year of tours, this is really how these six guys evolved as a band from 2014 to 2019.”

In addition to closing out the year with a fantastic-sounding live album, the band has been slowly introducing new music since the spring months. Though they’ve yet to formally announce a follow-up studio album to 2017’s A Deeper Understanding, fans should feel optimistic about a new project of sorts which could arrive sometime in 2021.
