The Last Waltz remains one of the most legendary concerts in rock and roll history. Hosted by The Band in 1976, TLW featured performances from everyone: Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Neil Young, Paul Butterfield, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Neil Diamond, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Wood… The list goes on and on.
This November will mark the 40th anniversary of The Last Waltz, and, to celebration, Warren Haynes is leading the charge on a tribute concert. Haynes will serve as musical director for The Last Waltz New Orleans, to be held on April 30th at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans, LA. Joining Haynes will be quite the cast of characters, including John Medeski, Don Was, George Porter Jr., Jamey Johnson, Dave Malone, Mark Mullins and more artists TBA! The flyer claims “Superstar Surprise Guests” will be in attendance.
The concert will also honor the late great Allen Toussaint, who arranged the horn sections for the original Last Waltz concert in 1976. Pre-sale tickets are released tomorrow, March 24th, and the general on-sale begins March 25th. Don’t miss out!
