Warren Haynes opened his five-show run at South Farms in Morris, CT on Saturday night as part of the makeshift outdoor venue’s Twilight Concerts On The Farm series. The first of his two sold-out performances this weekend saw the Gov’t Mule guitarist deliver two sets of music for his east coast fans alongside his Mule bandmate Danny Lewis.

The first half of the stripped-down performance opened with a very fitting acoustic take on “Don’t Know Where We’re Going (But We’ll Get There)”, followed by “New Year’s Eve” and an inspiring cover of George Harrison‘s “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)”. The first set continued with “Company Man” before Hayes was joined by Louis for “Everything Is Free”, “Patchwork Quilt”, “Red Baron”, and “Bands of the Deep End”.

The covers-filled second set opened with another Phil Lesh & Friends tune with “The Real Thing”, followed by the Eagles‘ “Wasted Time”, the late Bill Withers‘ “Hope She’ll Be Happier”, Leonard Cohen‘s “Hallelujah”, Duke Ellington & His Orchestra‘s “Things Ain’t What They Used to Be”, Bobby “Blue” Bland‘s “Ain’t Nothing You Can Do”, The Allman Brothers Band‘s “Come and Go Blues”, and Jimmy Cox‘s “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out”. The one-song encore saw Haynes and Louis return to close the night with their duet take on Neil Young & Crazy Horse‘s “Cortez the Killer”.
