While this summer’s Dead & Company tour was confined predominantly to the month of June, the members of the band are staying busy. Last night, John Mayer continued his The Search For Everything Tour with a stop at Sacramento, CA’s Golden 1 Center. As usual on this tour, the show was broken into three different configurations–solo acoustic, the John Mayer Trio, and the full band. Last night, that list of different lineups within the evening’s set got just a little bit longer, as Bob Weir joined Mayer and his band for guest appearances during the acoustic and the full band (reprise) sections of the show.

First, after the full band opened the show with a 5-song run, the acoustic instruments were brought out for The Search For Everything‘s “Emoji of a Wave” and smash hit  Room For Squares pop ballad “Your Body Is A Wonderland. To close out the performance’s acoustic portion, Mayer welcomed Weir onstage to trade verses for a beautifully twang-y duet on Grateful Dead classic “Friend of the Devil.” You can watch footage of the acoustic duet below thanks to YouTube user Paul Perkins.

Weir then stuck around as the full band joined the stage for the second and final full band segment of the evening, lending his guitar and vocals to a dreamy rendition of oft-covered Bob Dylan classic “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.”
