While Brandon “Taz” Niederauer has been tearing it up as part of the School Of Rock cast on Broadway, longtime jam fans will recognize the child prodigy from his years of collaborations prior to his theatrical debut. After 163 consecutive shows, Taz took the night off and flew down to the Crescent City to take part in some Jazz Fest late night fun.

Among his many stops was a showcase at DBA, where friends Roosevelt Collier, Luther Dickinson, Tony Hall and Terrence Higgins were on hand for a late night performance. The group invited Taz into the fold, where he took over for Dickinson on guitar for two tracks: Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing” and Prince’s “Purple Rain.”
