The Electric Beethoven album Beathoven came out yesterday, treating fans to jammed out interpretations of the 3rd and 6th Symphonies of Ludwig van Beethoven. Spearheaded by bassist Reed Mathis, the foundations of these interpretations were certainly laid down on the album, but they truly come to life in the live setting.

Fans in Buffalo, NY got a taste of that last week, when Electric Beethoven performed at the Buffalo Iron Works last Wednesday, September 28th. Improvisation is the name of the game, as the band merges composed sections with totally unique jamming. With Mathis, Todd Stoops, Jay Lane and Clay Welch all thoroughly committed to the project, this is just the beginning!

Fortunately, we just received a lengthy video from the Buffalo show from strawberryIsland Dweller, which you can watch below.

Electric Beethoven is set to make their debut in NYC at Brooklyn Comes Alive on October 22nd, followed by two intimate club performances at The Cutting Room and DROM in Manhattan during the following week. For more about Brooklyn Comes Alive, which features a lineup with artists like Oteil Burbridge, Joe Russo, Marc Brownstein, Aron Magner, John Medeski, and more, head to the official website. Information about the two performances in New York can be found here.
