Throughout the last week or two, Joe Marcinek put together an incredible lineup of musicians for his rotating cast known wholeheartedly as the Joe Marcinek Band. The project continues to develop under Marcinek’s direction, and he chose some absolutely all-stars for the band’s recent run of performances. Joining the guitarist were Jason Hann (The String Cheese Incident), Tony Hall (Dumpstaphunk), and Steve Molitz (Particle).

The band toured through the Southeast, including a stop at the famed Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton, FL. There, they treated fans to a funk fueled performance that even included a pair of Grateful Dead covers in “Scarlet Begonias > Fire On The Mountain.” Fortunately, CHeeSeHeaDPRoDuCTioNS was on hand to capture the musical magic!

Check out Hann, Hall, Moiltz and Marcinek’s take on “Scarlet/Fire” – with guest saxophonist Juanjamon – from last Friday, January 13th, below.

Says Marcinek, “I’ve been doing the JMB for the past 6 years and it was always building. I think we reached a peak last week with this lineup. Each member brought something special to the table and yet the focus was always on the whole. We were having so much fun on and off the stage and that vibe carried over into the music. Steve, Jason, and I had been playing this Grateful Dead classic for years, but Tony had never heard it. I played it for him the week before and he instantly fell in love with it. What was funny was that I sent him the original studio version which Steve and Jason had never heard. The energy in the room was contagious and my jaw literally hurt from smiling so much. Not only are these guys amazing musicians but they are genuine real open and honest human beings. When you can connect on that level emotionally and musically you get some amazing results. The only problem with this lineup was that it may never happen again. That is the best and worst part of the Joe Marcinek Super Band!”
