It’s a nostalgic time of the year for Allman Brothers Band fans, who traditionally gathered for their own musical March madness at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. The Southern rock pioneers played over 230 sold-out performances at the Beacon, hosting dedicated fans and a number of special guests throughout the 45 years of the band’s existence. It was a time of year to look forward to—like a family reunion for a big, crazy family.

On March 24th, 2012, the night’s guest list included John Popper, Jimmy Hall, Bruce Katz, Rob Barraco, Scott Sharrard, and James van de Bogert. Showcasing their versatility through both acoustic and electric segments, the Allman Brothers took opportunities to improvise on songs by the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, and more.
