It’s been a remarkable run for Voodoo Dead, as the all-star ensemble just wrapped up a four night jaunt through the Northeast. After two nights in DC and another in New York, the crew made their way to the Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, PA (near Philly) for two more nights along this Mardi Gras run, the first of which happened last night, February 11th.

The band features the likes of Oteil Burbridge, Steve Kimock, Jeff Chimenti, Wally Ingram, Jackie Greene and Papa Mali, bringing some New Orleans flare to the music of the Grateful Dead. After a big jam with Brandon “Taz” Neiderauer the night before, the Voodoo Dead gentlemen got to work on a great show last night.

After an opening set from the Funky Dawgz Brass Band, Voodoo Dead opened up their performance with funk classic “You’re The One” and kept the train rolling with Bob Dylan’s “It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry.” There were plenty of Grateful Dead favorites throughout the night, including “China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider,” “Bird Song,” “Scarlet Begonias,” and a show closing “Turn On Your Lovelight.”
