Our good friends at Water Collective are currently running an awareness campaign for World Water Day which is this Saturday, March 22nd.  While this may not be music related, Live for Live Music is always supportive of important causes. And bringing clean water to those around the world without any, is about as important as it gets. No one should go without something that is so essential to life.

Water Collective wants your thumbs up this year to raise awareness for World Water Day. Blue Thumb is a global advocacy campaign launching in the spirit of World Water Day from March 17th-22nd. We are asking friends from all around the world to show us their Blue Thumb to spread awareness about the global water crisis and Water Collective’s mission to bring developing communities clean, safe drinking water.

For every Blue Thumb sent to Water Collective, a corporate sponsor will be donating $1 to their water projects. The goal is to collect 1,000 pictures. Will you help?

Take a blue marker or ink pad to mark your thumb blue, and submit your Blue Thumb photo here:  http://thewatercollective.org/bluethumb/   or post it on Instagram with #WCBlueThumb.

Show your support for all of the people around the world that do not have access to a clean water source.

Water Collective’s mission is simple, however needs your support to help those in need. Here is a rundown of their mission:

Water Collective secured life-lasting clean water through robust solutions and economic empowerment. Their big picture approach to the current water crisis tackles the economic hardships million of people have faced to keep their water sources running.

Water Collective stimulates local economy by providing training and education for income-generating skills. With local experts and partners, we introduce additional opportunities for income generation. This way, individuals have the potential to make additional income and can afford the costs of keeping clean water running.

Many of the villages we work in are in isolated areas far away from a Google search on how to fix a broken well, or the most profitable ways to process cassava. We provide education & training so that locals can: fix their own water source and have options to make additional income.

20-70% of installed handpumps in sub-Saharan Africa are no longer functioning. In the estimated 1-4 billion people without safe drinking water, millions more have been stripped of a water source they used to have. In Africa alone it is estimated that in the past 20 years, 70 million people have lost access to water due to a failed source.
