Ween finally delivered its long-awaited three-night run at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas over the weekend, performing October 1st–3rd with fans tuning in from all over via FANS. The string of concerts ultimately proved worth the wait, as the band loaded the three concerts with over 100 songs including a debut and rarities.

The run, originally billed as “March Mitzvah” when it was announced in early 2020, was later rescheduled to October 2020 as “Oktoberfest“. The pandemic persisted, however, with the shows moved for the third and final time to this past weekend.

Ween—comprised of led Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo and Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman with bassist Dave Dreiwitz, drummer Claude Coleman Jr., and keyboardist Glenn McClelland—opened the run with “Don’t Shit Where You Eat”.

The first notable bust-out arrived early on as Ween performed The Pod‘s “Mononucleus” for the first time since 11/2/18, per Brownbase. Ween went even deeper just three songs later for the first “I’ll Miss You” since 6/11/17, only the seventh performance to date. Moving swiftly through a setlist that would ultimately tally 33 songs, the band also shelled out fan favorites like “Roses Are Free”, “Touch My Tooter”, and “Even If You Don’t”, mixed in with other rarities like “Get A Little Taste Of You” (LTP 4/14/16).

Each show of the Las Vegas run featured an acoustic segment. The band returned to the stage for an encore on night one with Deaner and Gener armed with acoustics to deliver a touching “Birthday Boy”.

After some onstage discussion of what key the next song was in, Deaner proudly proclaimed that the band had never before played the following song live before adding, “maybe once.” True to their word, Ween rattled off the first live “Cornbread Red” ever, giving the “Even If You Don’t” B-side a proper first outing before closing the show with “Drifter In The Dark” and, finally, “The Mollusk”.

Back for more, Ween loaded up Saturday’s show with hit after hit early on from the show-opening “I’m Dancing In The Show Tonight” through “Pork Roll Egg And Cheese”, “Piss Up A Rope”, “Waving My Dick In The Wind”, “The Stallion Pt. 1”, “Voodoo Lady”, “Baby Bitch”, “The HIV Song”, “Transdermal Celebration”, and many more. After fitting in a number of oddities on Friday night, Saturday was filled with wall-to-wall fan-favorites.

That isn’t to say that Saturday was without its bust-outs, as Ween dusted off “Koko” for the first time since 12/30/00 during the late-show acoustic segment. Ween then delivered a marathon five-song encore that began with “Nan” and included “Up On The Hill”, “Israel”, and what felt like a “You Fucked Up” finale before Claude, Dave, and Glenn left Dean and Gene alone to close the show with “Puffy Cloud”.

For the final night, Ween once again front-loaded the beginning of the show with welcome regulars including the show-opening “She Wanted To Leave” followed by “Polka Dot Trail”, “Spinal Meningitis (Got Me Down)”, “Happy Colored Marbles”, and “She’s My Baby”. The band still had more surprises in store, however, as evidenced by the mid-set running of The Pod outtake “I Wuz Nothin”, last played on 1/2/01, marking only its third-ever live performance.

The final acoustic segment of the weekend included takes on “Tried And True”, “Sorry Charlie‍”, and “Right to the Ways and the Rules of the World‍” before plugging back in for “Zoloft”, “Licking the Palm For Guava> Mushroom Festival in Hell”, “Someday”, and finally “Fluffy” to end the set. Returning to the stage one more time, Ween offered a one-two punch of relevant closers with “Your Party” and the fond farewell of “Buenos Tardes Amigos”.

A large collection of fan-shot videos from throughout the three-night run is available on The Stallion Mang.
