A year after postponing and then ultimately canceling a three-night run in Chicago, Widespread Panic has announced its long-awaited return to the Chicago Theatre. Panic will play three nights in The Windy City on June 4th, 5th, and 6th, 2025.
Last year, Widespread Panic was originally scheduled to play the Chicago Theatre from February 15th–17th. However, on the morning of the first show, the band announced the run had been postponed for two weeks as “[one] of our brothers ran into some unexpected health issues.” One week later—before Spreadheads from across the country began their pilgrimages to Chicago—the band ultimately canceled the shows.
In a subsequent post, Panic explained that bassist Dave Schools had been briefly hospitalized “due to an unexpected health concern.” The band ultimately reconvened the following month for its annual trio of shows in St. Augustine, FL, only to go on hiatus several months later after guitarist Jimmy Herring was diagnosed with tonsil cancer.
Tickets for the 2025 Widespread Panic run at the Chicago Theatre will go on sale on Friday, February 7th at 10 a.m. CT via Ticketmaster. Of note, these shows happen to overlap with Billy Strings‘ visit to the Chicagoland area, when he plays Allstate Arena in nearby Rosemont, IL on June 6th and 7th.
Widespread Panic has not performed since the band’s annual Red Rocks Amphitheatre run in June of last year. Days before the band was set to return to Asheville, NC for a three-night run in July, WSP announced Herring’s cancer diagnosis—ultimately canceling all remaining tour dates. Fast forward seven months and Widespread Panic is gearing up for its first shows back on February 14th, 15th, and 16th at the Hard Rock Live at Estess Arena in Atlantic City. The group has since tacked on additional runs in St. Augustine, FL (3/21–3/23), Nashville (4/24–4/26), and Charleston, SC (5/16–5/17). Find Widespread Panic tickets and tour dates on Ticketmaster.
