After spending a month and a half at home, Widespread Panic emerged victoriously at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC last night. The band notoriously told fans that 2017 would be a lighter year for them, as they plan to limit tour dates to major runs and events. With that in mind, the band has a hearty schedule mapped out for the remainder of 2016, starting with their two-night run in DC.

The band opened up the show with “Holden Oversoul,” and brought a number of great original tunes like “Blackout Blues,” “One Arm Steve” and more. The band covered Van Morrison’s “Send Your Mind” in the first set as well, and closed out with “Shut Up and Drive” and “Steven’s Cat.”

The jams continued in set two when the band opened with “Henry Parsons Died,” and continued to bring the heat with a medley that featured fan-favorite “Little Lilly” segueing into Funkadelic’s “Red Hot Mama.” A great segment of “Papa’s Home” > “Drums” > “Papa’s Home” served as a big jam vehicle, while “North” ended the set in style. Finally, “Expiration Day” and “Porch Song” closed out the set.
