Willie Nelson and the team behind his annual Luck Reunion event are lobbying for President Biden and U.S. Congress to officially recognize the days between April 20th and Willie Nelson’s birthday as the “High Holidays.”

Earlier this week the team at Luck Presents revealed their plans to propose the dates between April 20th (the unofficial cannabis holiday widely referred to as “4/20” or “420”) and April 29th (Willie Nelson’s birthday) to be recognized as the “High Holidays” as the plant continues its ongoing legalization in states across the country.

The Luck Presents team has also gone as far as to start an online petition to declare the “High Holidays” an official national holiday.

“I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug,” Nelson said in a press statement. “Marijuana is an herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?”

Some might call the initiative a fool’s errand considering President Biden played a key role in writing and passing two key pieces of federal legislation in the racially biased war on drugs back in 1986 and 1988. Yet, then again, stranger things have happened.
