The Werks will throw their second annual Winter Werk Out on February 2nd and 3rd at Columbus, Ohio’s The Bluestone. While psychedelic jammers are best known for their annual summer Werk Out, the winter version of the festival gives the band an opportunity to get physical and flex their musical muscles. This year, the stacked lineup will see both The Werks and Papadosio perform both nights. (Check out ticket information for the 2018 Winter Werk Out here).

Joining them will be Buffalo jammers Aqueous, soul-funk artist Zach Deptuty, producer Phutureprimitive, and up-and-coming acts Litz, Electric Orange PeelErnie Johnson From Detroit, and Conscious Pilot. As if that wasn’t enough, members of both The Werks and Papadosio will join forces for an Official Pre-Party at Woodlands Tavern on Thursday, February 1st.

With the 2017 release of their latest EP, Magic, The Werks have transcended the jam genre with creative and well-curated songcraft that could easily see the group gaining fam outside the jam realm. Glide Magazine described Magic as being, “Filled with both electricity and hypnotic bliss… while retaining a perfect dose of soul,” and with good reason—while the element of organic improvisation is still present, the album offers 60’s psychedelia and indie-rock stylings that any true music head would enjoy. Now with four albums, thousands of shows, and their own highly-acclaimed summer music festival under their belt, The Werks is a group that should be on everybody’s radar.

If 2017 has been any indication, then 2018 will be another monumental year for Papadosio. Each year, the band grows musically and continues to expand on what they have already created and put forth into the universe. The natural ebb and flow of Dosio’s music falls in between the rock, jazz, and electronic genres, though always presents itself as nothing short of harmonious. With the release of Pattern Integrities in 2016, the band took another leap, exploring the greater stratosphere of sound and proving they are just getting started from a creative perspective.

Phutureprimitive creates music that is harmonious with nature and the human spirit. Lush, tranquil, and hypnotic melodies splash over an exotic background of sound, combining for a deeply organic, futuristic, and, yes, primitive experience to the listener. But Phutureprimitive can just as easily turn things into dance-heavy bangers that keep the crowd in ever-kinetic motion. With the release of Searching for Beauty in the Darkest Places (released in two parts during 2014 and 2015), the producer displayed a multi-dimensional approach to sonic construction.

Buffalo, New York-based jammers Aqueous are most definitely on their way up. With high-profile performances at festivals this past summer—including playing with fellow upstate New Yorkers, members of  moe., at this year’s Brooklyn Comes Alive—guitarist Mike Gantzer and company are turning heads at every stop they make across the country. Their Winter Werk Out set will definitely be one to not miss.
