Scott Metzger’s WOLF! Details New EP, ‘Adult Entertainment’, First In Six Years [Listen]

Guitarist Scott Metzger is taking his “Telecaster rock trio” WOLF! off the shelf with the release of a new EP, Adult Entertainment. Out on October 28th via Royal Potato Family, it will mark the threesome’s first release since 1-800-Wolf! in 2016.

Along with the album announcement, WOLF! shared the lead single, “Ratso”. Playing beside bassist Jon Shaw and drummer Taylor Floreth, Metzger is able to explore a wide range of styles, from jazz-influenced surf rock to rockabilly noise, and that’s all within the 2:26 runtime of “Ratso”.

“We had WOLF! up and running pretty hard back in 2016. There were two really great albums, a bunch of sold out shows, a few songs licensed to film and television and then for a laundry list of reasons, some still even unclear to us as a band, our attention got pulled towards other endeavors,” Metzger explained in a press release. “In 2018, we ducked back into the studio and put down some tracks, but again life pointed us in other directions and the recordings wound up on the back burner. As things started to open up following the pandemic, it quickly became apparent that it was time to finish up the EP and get the band back out playing shows again.”

Ahead of Adult Entertainment‘s release, WOLF! will play four nights throughout the Northeast at The Sultan Room in New York, NY (10/6); Stage One in Fairfield, CT (10/7); Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, MA (10/8); and Still Partners in Sea Cliff, NY (10/9). The six-track EP also includes a guest appearance by Metzger’s Joe Russo’s Almost Dead bandmate Marco Benevento on Farfisa organ on “Hawaiin Shirt”.

“WOLF! has a thing. There’s an innate chemistry when the three of us play together,” said Metzger. “I don’t hear anyone else really playing instrumental music like this right now. It’s a guitar-centered band, but it’s not about guitar solos or fancy chops. It’s about three dudes in a room making music in real time that just straight up feels good, you get it the first time you hear it. I think we all need a little of that these days.”
