The Wood Brothers stopped by the eTown Hall studios recently where they delivered an impromptu, rooftop performance of their song “Little Bit Sweet”.

The song comes from the band’s 2020 album, Kingdom In My Mind. That record marked the eighth studio release for the group, comprised of brothers Chris and Oliver Wood alongside multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix.

The clip begins with a slice of the logistical aspects of getting a band onto a roof. While being an acoustic group definitely worked to The Wood Brothers’ advantage, there was still the challenge of carrying Chris Wood’s stand up bass up a ladder. Once the band reached the rooftop, however, it was all smiles and cheerful music as they performed beside a veritable meadow of solar panels, which are used to power eTown Hall.

Built around Oliver Wood’s traveling guitar melody, the song finds a dichotomy of emotions with the repeated phrase “it’s a little bit sweet/it’s a little bit bitter/that’s the way love is made.” Huddled around one microphone, the group shows off its a cappella prowess as they harmonize on the refrain. Soon Chris and Jano join in, with Rix adding a percussive element with his acoustic guitar that has been affixed with symbols.
