On Sunday, the final night of this year’s Desert Daze at Moreno Beach in Lake Perris, CA, the Wu-Tang Clan welcomed buzzworthy Houston, TX-native trio Khruangbin to the stage for their first-ever live collab.
After Khruangbin performed their own set on the Moon Stage, The Wu took over the spotlight for their headlining performance. For the final song of their set on the Moon Stage, the iconic Staten Island hip-hop collective brought up Khruangbin’s Mark Speer, Laura Lee, and Donald “DJ” Johnson to help augment a funkier-than-usual rendition of “Protect Ya Neck (The Jump Off)”.

While Khruangbin is not normally a band that works with onstage guests, this marks the second high-profile Khruang collab in recent memory. In August, the band welcomed Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio for the majority of their Thursday night set at LOCKN’.
