Bluegrass jam outfit Yonder Mountain String Band gave their fans a nice mid-week surprise on Wednesday when they released a live compilation album of 13 recordings from their fall 2018 tour. The album is titled, Hines’ Finds: Volume II, and is named after the band’s audio engineer, Ben Hines, who is handed the duty after every tour of collecting his favorite moments from that series of shows, according to a statement shared by the band.

The fall tour began back on October 17th, and continued into mid-November. If you look and listen closely, however, Hines also managed to sneak in a few soundboard recordings from their summer shows into the mix as well. The compilation tracklisting does a good job of mixing in various moments from the tour, although it’s tough to miss the six songs pulled straight from their show at The Warehouse in Fairfield, Connecticut back on November 11th, which features a non-stop flow of songs starting with “On The Run” and continuing into “Scent Of A Mule” > “Wheel Hoss” > “Piss Up A Rope” > “Scent Of A Mule” (Jam) > “On The Run”. That three-song, five-track transition takes up almost half the album.

Other notable live tracks included on the new compilation includes a performance of “Dancing In The Moonlight” from their 2017 studio album Love. Ain’t Love, which was recorded during their show at the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley, Minnesota on July 3rd (one of the snuck-in summer tracks). Also included is their cover of Tommy Tutone‘s 1981 hit, “867-5309/Jenny”, from their performance at the Strings & Sol destination event down in Mexico last month.
