Ziggy Marley is teaming up with Paramount Pictures to produce a biopic about his father, legendary musician Bob Marley.

Deadline reports that the forthcoming film will tell the life story of Marley, who died of cancer in 1981 at the age of 36. The Jamaican artist is largely responsible for bringing reggae into the mainstream with classic ‘70s albums like Burnin’, Natty Dread, and Exodus, and his posthumous greatest hits album, Legend, is far and away the best-selling reggae album of all-time.

Marley’s son Ziggy was 12 years old when his father passed away. Since then, he’s become a successful muscian in his own right, putting out numerous Grammy-winning albums, touring the world, and even recording the theme song for the popular children’s television show Arthur. He’s also dipped his toes in the film production waters as well, and his credits include executive producing the documentary Bob Marley Legend Remixed and guest starring on TV shows like Charmed and Hawaii Five-O.

There’s currently no word on when Paramount is expected to release its Bob Marley biopic.
