When it comes to rockin’ Americana music, not many are doing it better than Fruition. The Portland, Oregon-based quintet emerged from an impromptu busking session, when Jay Cobb Anderson, Kellen Asebroek and Mimi Naja discovered how perfectly they complement one another. Fast forward eight years, and add Jeff Leonard and Tyler Thompson to the mix, and the result is beautifully crafted, matured music.
The group is set to release their newest album, Labor Of Love, on April 22nd via Randm Records. The follow-up to 2013’s Just One Of Them Nights has fans buzzing with anticipation, as the band has grown quite a bit in three years of extensive touring. Scheduled to make their second-ever appearance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre this summer, fans can expect a rich and fulfilling listen from Labor Of Love.
“In the past our approach was always to just get in the studio and get it done, but for this one we decided we were going to take all the time in the world to make the album great,” says Anderson. Mimi Naja elaborates, saying “We all tend to write on acoustic guitar and let things start in the same stripped-down, folky sort of way that we always did. So where the songs come from hasn’t really changed much at all. What’s different is where we let them go from there.”

We asked Anderson about the inspiration for the song. “The lyrics are musings on sister/brotherhood and what it means it takes to be vulnerable enough to ask for help. Also what it means to be sympathetic enough to be there for someone who needs help.”
