Fourteen years ago on Valentine’s Day in 2003, Lotus brought their smooth and tight grooves to the now defunct Murray’s Inn in Wikes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Typifying what we can expect from old-school Lotus, the two-set show was slinky and tight with a patient focus on stretching out their jams. The five-song first set, after a relatively short “Livingston Storm,” contains a 17-minute “It’s All Clear To Me Now,” an 18-minute “Soma,” and a 16-minute “L’immueble,” before the 15-minute “Flower Sermon.”

Lotus debuted two new tracks during the second set of the Wikes-Barre performance. The set opened with the debut of “Freeze Box” before later dropping the tune “Los Angeles” for the first time. The band also closed out their show with their take on The Meters’ funky classic “Cissy Strut,” a treat that the band used to bust out frequently in the early 2000s, which has now, unfortunately, dropped off since 2003.
