moe. welcomed Turkuaz to the second night of their Jazz Fest run with open arms and an open stage for an incredible collaboration last night at the Civic Theatre. The two bands have had a mutual love thing going since their Jam Cruise collaborations and were both looking forward to the musical possibilities. Little did the lucky fans in attendance know that they would see a full-scale collaboration between opener and headliner that would feature songs from The Rolling Stones, Sam & Dave, The Band and the Talking Heads.

What started with Turkuaz sax player Greg Sanderson joining moe. for a rocking “Can’t You Hear Me knocking” ended up with the full lineups from both acts crowding the stage for a wonderful “Life During Wartime”. Also performing “McBain”, “Soul Man”, and “Ophelia”, members of moe. and Turkuaz surely delivered an outstanding night one together in NOLA.

Our own Rex Thomson was on hand filming and has all five songs of the massive show-closing collaboration, ready for you below.
