Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival is quickly approaching, and we couldn’t be more excited for this awesome and eclectic festival. Taking place over four days in beautiful Southern Florida, the festival boasts one of the most diverse lineups of the year alongside an array of epic art installations and unique themed areas, making the best of the pristine locale and beautiful backdrop provided by the festival’s lush and gorgeous grounds. With so much to look forward to at Okeechobee, we’ve put together a list of the coolest and most unique elements of the festival. 1. Swimming at Aquachobee
Usually, it’s tough to find a good shady spot to cool down at a music festival…Not at Okeechobee! At Okeechobee’s brilliant Aquachobee area the festival provides the ultimate ability to sunbathe and play games in the sand & sun and then cool off by jumping in the lake, all located in the Moonlight Oasis area of the festival. Okeechobee adds to the island vibes by building tons of palapas and selling fruity drinks, providing the ultimate beachfront experience. Make sure to bring a towel & floatie to join the fun!
2. Diverse Lineup With Once In A Lifetime Performances
Okeechobee’s lineup is stacked, with some of the best artists in live music. Heavy hitters like Kings of Leon, Bassnectar, Flume, Pretty Lights, and Usher & The Roots top the bill, but this fest boasts an excellent lineup throughout the roster. You can find The Revivalists at Okeechobee, as well as Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, GRiZ, Galactic, Moon Taxi and BADBADNOTGOOD. Okeechobee also delivers several once-in-a-lifetime performances during the festival, bringing together a unique assortment of artists to create unmissable performances. After last year’s epic PoWoW! with Miguel, Win Butler of Arcade Fire, George Porter Jr., Zigaboo Modeliste, Kamasi Washington, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Eric Krasno and Neal Evans, one can only imagine the exciting lineup that’s being put together for this year’s mashup celebration. Also, the festival offers the Okeechobee Gospel Soul Experience, which will feature the Blind Boys of Alabama, Allen Stone, and more in 2017, making for one of the most unique musical offerings at any major festival.
3. The Location’s Natural Paradise
Okeechobee takes place on one of the most beautiful festival venues in the country. With plush grass, access to water at Aquachobee, beautiful trees encircling the Grove, and a surreal vibe permeating the grounds, it’s easy to understand why 30,000 people flocked to the first year of Okeechobee. Destination festivals should feel like they are removed from reality, and walking through Okeechobee’s site truly feels like a dream-state experience. Taking place during March 2nd-5th, the festival boasts some of the best weather of any major festival.
4. All Night Music in Jungle51
For all you ragers out there, Jungle51 provides the ultimate late night experience. Taking place in a heavily wooded portion of the Moonlight Oasis, Jungle51 goes all night long, with techno music bumping until the break of dawn. Okeechobee makes sure to book some of the best and most interesting electronic music in Jungle51, which is guaranteed to keep you dancing until the wee hours of the morning.
5. Across the Board Curation
With yoga, workshops, visual and performance art, top-notch food, on-point partners, roving performers, earth arts workshops, a healing sanctuary, artist workshops, and endless amounts of on-site activities, the festival has a little something for everyone. The festival provides a full 360 holistic experience, making for the ultimate getaway from your everyday life. This doesn’t happen by mistake, as the Okeechobee team works tirelessly to curate the entire festival from top to bottom.
