Bicycle Day is the annual celebration of Swiss scientist Albert Hoffman’s first intentional ingestion of the chemical compound, LSD-25, after accidentally discovering the compound’s nature three days earlier. Named for Hoffman’s trippy bicycle ride home from the lab that fateful day, each year on April 19th, folks come together to celebrate the world’s first acid trip all the way back in 1943. One of the largest Bicycle Day celebrations occurs in San Francisco, California, and brings musicians, visual artists, and speakers together to pay tribute to America’s counterculture and all things psychedelic. This year, San Francisco’s Bicycle Day celebration will be occurring in a new venue, The Midway, and is likely to be a spectacular tribute to the occasion.

Renowned artists Alex Grey, Allyson Grey, and Android Jones will be front and center all evening, creating visual art that reflects the setting. Bureau of Sabotage will headline the event, reconvening the supergroup consisting of Oteil Burbridge (Dead & Co, Allman Brothers), Aron Magner (Disco Biscuits), Jeff Franca (Thievery Corporation), and John Kadlecik (Furthur, DSO). Other acts appearing include Ott, Papadosio, Phaelah, Govinda, and Eliot Lipp in addition to a bunch of other musicians, performance artists, visual artists, and more.
