Lockn’ LLC, the festival management company behind Virginia’s Lockn’ Festival, has announced big changes today for the festival venue.  Oak Ridge Farm, a 385 acre property adjacent to the festival venue, has entered into a purchase agreement with Lockn’ LLC.  A portion of the property will be utilized for camping during the annual festival, with the intent of the property to remain a farm.

This means good news starting with this years festival.  The farthest campsite will now be a mile and a half closer to the festival entrance than the 2013 site plan allowed.  The use of the fields and woods will provide a better experience for all attendees, as it will now surround the concert site.  The newly acquired fields will now provide a game-changing Traffic Plan, with better access to sites and less congestion.  This purchase has also alleviated a slew of safety concerns. Previously all pedestrians, vehicles, and cyclists were on Oak Ridge Road, however, this new purchase allows for plans to direct vehicular traffic away from foot traffic, thereby lessening safety issues coming in and out of the venue.

Peter Shapiro, Managing Partner of Lockn’ LLC, said of the purchase, “We intend to be responsible stewards of the land. We have hired an environmental land management architect to author a long-term master plan that contemplates the property remaining a farm, using some of the fields for festival camping and traffic, and preserving the ecological integrity, natural habitats, and ecosystems of one of Nelson County’s most beautiful farms whose history actually predates the existence of the United States.”

Held at Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, Virginia, Lockn’ is a four-day musical event that draws over 25,000 attendees from around the world.  Full sets are performed by a variety of internationally recognized bands on one of the two side-by-side stages set up at the festival.  This years festival will be taking place September 4-7, and will feature the final festival performance of The Allman Brothers, the only festival performances of Furthur and Wilco, as well as many other acts.
