Stephentown, NY’s Disc Jam Music Festival has been one of the few independent grassroots summer fests to see continuous growth year after year. What started out in its earliest stages as a rather small and intimate affair with a dozen or so bands has become a major player in the Northeast region. 2017 sees the Disc Jam take another big step forward with an absolutely massive lineup of over 60+ acts including Break Science Live Band (w/ members of Lettuce), Dopapod, Turkuaz, The Motet, Manic Focus, TAUK, Kung Fu, Aqueous, Electric Beethoven, Pink Talking Fish . . . and the list literally goes on and on.
Disc Jam takes place from June 8th through 11th at the beautiful Gardner’s Farm, and features four full days of music, art, disc golf, and a bevy of activities and workshops. Outside of its headliners, acts such as Congo Sanchez (ft. Jeff Franca of Thievery Corporation), Ghost Note (ft. Nate Werth of Snarky Puppy), Roots of Creation, Hayley Jane, Holly Bowling, Teddy Midnight, Ben Silver (of Orchard Lounge), Gubbulidis (ft. Mihali and Zdenek of Twiddle), Swift Technique, Klassik, and another 40+ more artists are ready to deliver a most epic of parties to upstate New York.
With so many independently run festivals not being able to keep up with the corporate-sponsored events, frequently being forced to fold after a handful of years, it is refreshing to see a festival like Disc Jam not only push on, but actually succeed in the what is truly a sea of adversity. This year’s lineup is a testament to that success, with plenty of incredible artists from the jam, funk, livetronica, and electronic genres.
