The bizarre story surrounding Evolvefest continues to develop, as the owner of Fellowship Farm, the festival’s site, has terminated his relationship with Evolvefest. For those unaware, Evolvefest founder David Bryson shocked the music community by posting incredibly offensive statements, exposing himself as homophobic and anti-semetic.
Understandably, there has been great backlash and disappointment to Bryson’s remarks. It’s gotten so bad, that the Fellowship Farm CEO, Brad Barry, posted the following statement on the his farm’s homepage:
It has come to our attention that Evolvefest, a former renter of our Fellowship Farm facility, has recently published disturbing Facebook posts regarding their opinions on sexual orientation. We are both saddened and outraged that in 2015, there are still individuals and organizations that feel justified in making self-righteous comments that deliberately harm and hurt other people.
At Child Guidance, we will absolutely not tolerate, support, endorse, or align ourselves with any organization that fails to see the value in diversity and equality.
In fact, understanding, compassion, and appreciation of each other’s differences have been the cornerstone of our mission since inception. We have always striven to provide a safe, tolerant place for children, adolescents, teens, adults, and families to gain support, and we continue to offer services specifically designed for adolescents/teens who face sexual and non-sexual identity issues.
We are regretful that a renter of Fellowship Farm has demonstrated a philosophy that we find abhorrent, and apologize to anyone that has been hurt by their comments. Our relationship with Evolvefest has been terminated.
Once more, a new group, called Boycott Evolvefest, has assembled a number of disturbing posts that document the recent behavior of Bryson, even going as far as to link him to a militant group called the Kalika War Party.
This is a very disappointing development, as it seems that Evolvefest was a beloved festival for eight years running, and only recently has David Bryson exposed his backwards socio-political views. Fortunately, rationally-minded people seem to be speaking out against Bryson, who may soon find himself out of a job.
