Today, Fender unveiled the newest addition to their esteemed Fender Signature Series: the Flea Jazz Bass. The guitar makers worked with the Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist and co-founder to craft a precise recreation of his Shell Pink ’61 Bass, focusing on every detail of Flea’s favorite axe.

Says Flea of the new bass, “The ’61 Fender Jazz Bass is magic. It’s truly the greatest bass I’ve ever played. Fender embodies everything I love about music and individuality. It reflects the soul of rock, punk, R&B, and funk. It’s this bass that pushes me to give more each time I play. The Flea Jazz Bass is a true resurrection and possesses that wave of energy a bass should give you when it’s in your hands.” Fender has released a mini-documentary about Flea’s musical background, his mental approach to playing, and his connection to the ’61 Fender Bass.
