Today marks a sad chapter in music history, as the beloved R&B singer Prince passed away earlier today. As we continue to grieve over the loss of a legend, we turn to the healing power of music and explore a number of tributes performed by artists we love.

Beloved performers Greensky Bluegrass are among the fastest-rising in the business, winning over new fans on the regular with their soul drenched Americana. While the band’s original music holds a place in our hearts, their unique covers are are always something to behold, as the band works popular music into the bluegrass canon. Among those cover selections is “When Doves Cry,” the 1984 hit single from the Purple Rain album.

“When Doves Cry” is a staple of the GSBG repertoire, but its soulful melody is plucked powerfully in the wake of Prince’s untimely death. Watch this pro-shot video from a 2014 performance below, and get ready to feel all of the emotions.

RIP Prince. We’ll miss you.
