This Saturday, April 23rd at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, CA, an all-star cast of musicians are set to perform at the Grammy Salute to Music Legends event, which honors the Special Merit Award winners in the 2016 Grammy’s. Among those Special Merit categories is the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was given to Jefferson Airplane, Herbie Hancock, Run DMC, Earth, Wind & Fire, Ruth Brown and Celia Cruz.

The ceremony will feature performances from the surviving members of Airplane, including Jack Casady, Marty Balin, and Jorma Kaukonen. Singer Grace Slick will be in attendance, but will not be performing. Longtime Jefferson Starship singer Cathy Richardson will handle Slick’s vocal parts.

Additional performances from Earth Wind & Fire, JD Souther, Ry Cooder, Henry Gray, Magnolia Sisters and Martina McBride round out what is sure to be a great event. PBS will be on hand to film the ceremony, and will be airing it at a later date that has not yet been announced.

The “Salute To Music Legends” had been held in conjunction with the Grammy award ceremony for many years, and 2016 marks the debut of it as a standalone event. For more information, head here.
