Continuing with our Live for Live Music “Summer Festivals Not to Miss” feature, we are excited to announce the Equifunk Music Festival as a festival that any jam and funk-loving fan in their right mind would never miss. For those that joined us last year at Equifunk, it was plain to see why this unique and intimate festival stands out from the rest. With some of the best acts in the funk and jam scenes on the bill, the option to either bunk or camp at an actual summer camp, a raging Saturday pool party, and all your beer and food included in the price, how could you possibly go wrong? No other festival around offers the amenities that Equifunk offers, and that is a fact.

Essentially a summer camp getaway for adults, that combines the cost of lodging, meals, beverages and unlimited beer into one convenient and affordable ticket ($350 cabins, $225 VIP camping or $185 regular camping for the all-inclusive amenities), the festival takes place at Camp Equinunk in the Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Besides adding a third day to the festival for the first time ever, Equifunk’s lineup has grown exponentially when compared to last year’s undertaking. With a lineup that boasts performances from Soulive w/ the Shady Horns and Maceo Parker (James Brown/Parliament/Prince), 2 nights of The New Mastersounds w/ James Casey (Trey Anastasio Band), JJ Grey and Mofro, Keller Williams with More Than a Little, Anders Osborne w/ John Medeski, Boombox, The Main Squeeze, and many more, this festival just went from the sleeper of last summer to the can’t miss of 2013.  And that’s all in just the first two days. Wait ’til you hear the Sunday lineup.

In its first five years, Equifunk was a two-day festival, where attendees would enjoy the backdrop of the Pocono Mountains, get their party on Friday and Saturday, and head home on Sunday. After last year, it was abundantly clear that two days wasn’t enough for fans; so, the producers of Equifunk listened and added a third day. As a special treat to fans in its 6th year, Equifunk will offer its first-ever Sunday Series – a full day of live music featuring Phish drummer Jon Fishman’s band Pork Tornado, never-before-seen supergroup the M&M’s (Stanton Moore, Maceo Parker, John Medeski, Papa Mali, Robert Mercurio & Marco Benevento), a superjam by the “Equifunk Allstars” (ft. Eddie Roberts, Pete Shand, Stanton Moore, Nigel Hall and James Casey) and sets from the Revivalists, the London Souls, the Heavy Pets, Mike Dillon Band and Main Squeeze.

Oh, and did we mention a very special Late-Night Campfire Set by none other than Marco Benevento? Yup, sit around a campfire, drinking beers in the mountains to Marco Benevento experimenting on his Hammond Organ and Wurlitzer Electric Piano. What other festival does this? Exactly….none!

Equifunk’s new Sunday lineup comes as free gift to festival-goers in addition to their two-day all-inclusive pass. While meals and drinks are no longer complimentary amenities on Sunday, a variety of craft beer, liquor and food offerings will be available for purchase all day as fans enjoy the final sets of the weekend and through gate close Monday.

The grounds of Camp Equifunk enhance the intimate, funk-filled atmosphere presented on stage. Guests can hit up poolside parties with a waterslide, outdoor activities from tennis and softball to 3-on-3 basketball tournaments and yoga, and even more interactive events, including a Fan vs. Artist Tennis Match with drummer Simon Allen of the New Mastersounds.

A mere two hour drive from New York City, Equifunk offers a bus pass from Manhattan, where fans carpool to the festival grounds leaving Friday and returning Sunday or Monday. The shuttles run in either morning or evening shifts for $70 round trip or $35 one-way.
