Joey Green, an equipment technician, is suing the Ultra Music Festival over a 2013 stage accident that left Green with shattered legs. He’s also suing Swedish House Mafia, and a slew of other parties.

As we reported last year, the incident occurred on March 14, 2013, when crews were busy assembling the main stage for the upcoming festivities. Here is the official statement released by UMF, last March:

Today (Thursday, March 14) as preparations were being made for this weekend’s Ultra Music Festival, a section of an LED screen fell and injured two workers. Fire Rescue was on site, so there was a rapid response. Festival organizers are working with, and supporting, authorities as they investigate the details behind the accident.

It seems that, during a pre-festival soundcheck, some of the equipment came loose and ultimately wound up breaking both of Green’s legs. The lawsuit report does not explain the incident in detail, leaving us to speculate as to just what may have occurred last March, and just how Swedish House Mafia were involved.

This isn’t the first lawsuit filed against Ultra. Apparently, in 2011, there was an altercation when security guards caught a festival attendee with… a glowstick. The attendee was ultimately detained, but later wound up settling the case.

Despite the ongoing legal issues, Ultra is still set to take place from March 28-30 in Miami, FL. You can get the full lineup on our Master Festival Spreadsheet.
