On Friday, October 6, the “Mempho All-Stars” have announced an off-site, late-night performance at Minglewood Hall that will celebrate the music of the Grateful Dead. The “Mempho All-Stars Play Dead” will be supercharged by Oteil Burbridge (Dead & Company, Allman Brothers Band, ARU), Steve Kimock (RatDog, Phil Lesh & Friends), Robert Randolph, Eric Krasno (Soulive/Lettuce), Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, Jeff Sipe (Aquarium Rescue Unit), Wally Ingram (Timbuk 3, Stockholm Syndrome, David Lindley, Cheryl Crow), Ike Stubblefield, Peter Levin (Gregg Allman Band), Papa Mali (7 Walkers), Eric McFadden (P-Funk Allstars), DJ Logic, Leslie Mendelson, Lamar Williams Jr. (Les Brers), and MonoNeon.
The “Mempho All-Stars Play Dead” will hit the stage at 12:30am to allow for festival-goers to make it after the final act, following DJ Logic & Friends who will be performing at 11:30PM for those looking to start the party early. Tickets start at $20 for Mempho Music Festival ticketholders, and increase to $30 for Mempho Music Festival non-ticketholders. All tickets are on-sale now here.
A similar iteration of the “Mempho All-Stars” will perform the Saturday late-night party on October 7, 2017 at the festival grounds. The Super Jam will honor the fallen southern rock greats who passed away earlier this year, founding members of the Allman Brothers Band Gregg Allman and Butch Trucks, and Col. Bruce Hampton.

Sponsored by Orion Federal Credit Union, the “Mempho All-Stars Play Dead” show will benefit the new “Learn To Rock” program, which aims to build bridges throughout the Memphis community by educating students about the city’s rich musical history. Through the “Learn To Rock” program, 2,000 tickets to MEMPHO will be distributed to music teachers and students throughout the greater Memphis region, including the Shelby County Schools, Memphis Music Initiative, City Leadership (Teach for America, Memphis Teacher Residency), and Soulsville Foundation (Stax Music Academy and Soulsville Charter School).
Booker T & Steve Cropper To Lead Memphis Tributes At Mempho Music Festival
MEMPHO Music Festival will be honoring Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Steve Cropper and Booker T Jones’s legendary influence on Stax Records and Memphis music with a special tribute on October 7, 2017. First off, BOOKER T PRESENTS: A STAX REVUE & A JOURNEY THROUGH SOUL, BLUES and R&B will perform the main stage, followed by a performance from Steve Cropper & Friends, featuring Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers, Dead & Company), John Popper (Blues Traveler), Eddie Floyd (wrote “Knock on Wood” with Cropper), as well as legendary keyboardist Lester Snell (Isaac Hayes, Shaft, B3 organ), drummer and cousin to Al Jackson, Steve Potts, trombonist Victor Sawyer, and tenor sax player Jim Spake. The back-to-back sets will serve as a continuous tribute to Memphis’s roots in music, as led by the legends themselves.
