It seems Neil Young is more wry than ever now that he’s been touring regularly with Promise of the Real. The guitarist continues to dig into his catalog, making for a new and exciting concert experience with each passing performance. Last night was no exception.

With a few days off between weekends of Desert Trip festival, Young made their way to the Fox Theater in Pomona, CA. The show featured a number of classics from Young’s catalog, including opening number “Like an Inca” and hits like “Cinnamon Girl,” “Cowgirl in the Sand” and so many more. It was the encore where Young brought out the biggest surprise, performing the song “Piece of Crap” from his 1994 album Sleeps With Angels. The song had not been played live by Young since July 28, 2001, and had never been played with Promise of The Real.
