Earlier this year, we spoke to famed concert promoter Peter Shapiro about a possible Brooklyn Bowl opening up in Chicago, IL. After rumors had been circulating for quite some time, Shapiro told us, “I’ve heard the rumors of Chicago too and…I don’t want to get into the formality of confirming, but usually when there’s smoke, there’s fire.”

Naturally, we’ve been anxious to hear more about this potentially-planned venue, and today we have our first news about it! Details about the Brooklyn Bowl interestingly emerged in an article about a nearby burger location, called Kuma’s, that plans to open within the same complex.

In a report published by the reliable Crain’s Chicago Business, the new Brooklyn Bowl venue will be in the Fulton Market area, and will be a part of a major three-story, 60,000-square-foot complex. Built by Complexity Properties, Brooklyn Bowl is spurring the construction project, and the burger place Kuma’s has officially signed on as the first tenant. Negotiations are underway with other potential businesses to fill the property.

Kuma’s is uniquely themed for the complex, as the restaurant is known for playing heavy metal music and naming their burgers after famed metal bands. “Kuma’s heavy-metal theme and aesthetic will line up nicely with what’s going on in the building,” said Adriane Schwager, Convexity’s leasing and asset manager in the article.

The burger place is planning to open in February 2017, so we may also have a release date for the venue as well! The Fulton Market area is also a burgeoning location, with new hotels and restaurants emerging, so expect the Brooklyn Bowl Chicago to fit right in among the properties. As all three current Brooklyn Bowl locations serve food from the famed Blue Ribbon company, Kuma’s will most likely be a separate entity, but hopefully the theme of music will permeate throughout the complex.

We’ll be sure to update once more information is available about this Brooklyn Bowl Chicago complex!
