In 1967, Bob Dylan, along with members of his backing group that would later form The Band, got together in the basement of Dylan’s house in Upstate New York, working on countless tunes and taping just about everything. Selections from these sessions had been released previously, but, come November 4th, the full recordings from these sessions are going to be made available to Dylan enthusiasts everywhere.

The Basement Tapes Complete: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11 will contain “every salvageable recording from the tapes, including recently discovered early gems recorded in the ‘Red Room’ of Dylan’s home in upstate New York,” according to producer Jan Haust. The collection includes original Dylan tunes, as well as recognizable country and R&B selections from Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Curtis Mayfield, and more.

The first release of these sessions was released in 1968, and covered by a young Jann Wenner (founder and editor of Rolling Stone). Then, he wrote, “Even though he used one of the finest rock & roll bands ever assembled on the Highway 61 album, here he works with his own band, for the first time. Dylan brings that instinctual feel for rock & roll to his voice for the first time. If this were ever to be released, it would be a classic.”
