The NY Post’s Page Six is reporting that pop star Katy Perry will be performing at the NFL Superbowl XLIX Halftime show. The news comes after the league reportedly asked three leading candidates, Rihanna, Coldplay, and Perry, if they would “pay to play” the Superbowl. At the time, Perry said, “I’m not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl.”

Fortunately for Ms. Perry, it seems the NFL will be paying her after all. The league is in negotiations with Perry, and while the terms are confidential, Perry’s previous associations with Pepsi (who sponsors the halftime show) is certainly one indication that the singer will be chosen for the show. Other indications include the family-friendly nature of her act, especially in the wake of previous “wardrobe malfunctions,” her catchy catalog, and recent appearance on ESPN’s “College GameDay.”

Superbowl XLIX will air on February 1st, on NBC.
