According to several reports, rap mogul Suge Knight was shot last night, at a pre-VMA party hosted by Chris Brown. TMZ, who broke the news, is now reporting that, while Suge was shot six times, his surgery was successful and he is expected to recover.

Close to 1:30 AM on Sunday morning, at the 1OAK night club in West Hollywood, CA, several witnesses (Tyson Beckford, Robert Ri’chard and Apple de Ap – according to TMZ) reported hearing gunshots inside the club. Suge was shot, but was able to walk out of the club on his own. Once outside, police officers spotted him, and quickly escorted him to an ambulance.

Check out this video, where you can hear shots fired within the club:

While the culprit remains at large, sources speculate that associates of The Game were involved. The Game was denied entry to the party earlier in the night, and some of his friends stayed outside the club.

Suge Knight is currently the CEO of Black Knight Records, and was the original founder of Death Row Records, which represented artists like Dr. Dre, Tupac Shakur, MC Hammer, and more. Several conspiracy theorists believe that Knight was involved in the deaths of both Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G., but he has never been charged, and a civil suit against him was dismissed in 2010.

We’ll be sure to update as this story develops.
