One night. One town. One concert. Three charities. The Legendary Giveback 5. For the fifth year, folk-Americana band The Avett Brothers are teaming up with Carolina softdrink company Cheerwine to host one legendary concert to raise money for three unique causes. Even if you can’t make it to the show, this year the entire Internet has a chance to contribute to these “Legendary Giveback” nonprofits: Wags & Wishes in Cambridge, Md., Hungry for Music in Washington, D.C., and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Both from North Carolina, Cheerwine and The Avett Brothers have raised more than $200,000 for charities through these series of Legendary Giveback concerts. Going down on November 19th at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center in Salisbury, MD, tickets are currently on sale here.
For the first time this year, fans across the country can join the charitable fundraising movement on Indiegogo to better elevate charitable donations above and beyond concert proceeds.
“It’s bigger than just establishing a number and asking people to help us reach it,” says Joy Ritchie Harper, head of marketing for Cheerwine. “What it comes down to is getting to know these organizations and understanding how we can support each charity’s unique mission. Each year we work to understand their needs and areas of support with the hopes we can make a difference. People can visit our Indiegogo page to learn how their donations will be used by each national and local organization.”
