During a show at Nassau Coliseum last night, The Who frontman Roger Daltrey threatened to walk off stage when he detected some marijuana smoke from the crowd.

Newsday reports that “the smoke’s impact was almost immediate on his voice, which went from crystal clear and potent for the opening ‘I Can’t Explain’ to something rougher and more limited during ‘I Can See for Miles.'”

Daltrey reportedly has an allergy to marijuana, and had even warned the crowd with informational slides projected onto screens prior to the show. “My voice is shutting down,” he exclaimed when the smoke began to take effect.

“I’m telling you now, the show will be over,” he warned the crowd. “It’s your choice, I can’t do anything about it. I’m doing my best.”

“Stick it up your fucking ass!” Pete Townshend chimed in. “It’s the quickest way. I think it’s quicker than eating it.” To which Daltrey retorted, “and by far the most pleasurable.” Watch the exchange below.
