I read the news today, oh boy…

A pine tree planted in Los Angeles, as a memorial to the late-Beatle George Harrison, has unfortunately been killed. The ironic culprit? Beetles.

It seems the insect homophones swarmed the once-prosperous tree, a fate that happens occasionally in the Griffith Park area where the tree was planted. If he were alive, Harrison probably would have enjoyed the irony.

Harrison lived in Los Angeles towards the end of his life, and was an avid gardener. The memorial tree was planted in his honor, and initially grew to a size of 10 ft., before being overrun by a beetle infestation.

Councilman Tom LaBonge has said that a new tree will soon be planted in the same location.
