Last night wrapped up a very special two-night stand at The Orpheum Theatre for Umphrey’s McGee and Tauk. Close to their homes in Chicago, Umph took the opportunity to do things differently for their friends and family. On the first night, they played a completely improvisational set, and last night saw Brendan Bayliss and Jake Cinninger strip down to their acoustics for three songs. Both nights featured saxophonist Joshua Redman.

After a triple-rocker opener of “Le Blitz” > “Spires” > “Example 1”, the band brought it down for an acoustic “Gone For Good”, a song that was debuted at their Reel To Reel movie premiere in Denver on New Years Day. This led straight into “Uncle Wally” and seamlessly transitioned to Led Zeppelin‘s “That’s The Way”. After plugging back in, Joshua Redman stepped in for a majority of the set’s remainder and stuck around for the second set.
