Usher Raymond V, the 5 year old son of R&B superstar Usher is recovering in an Atlanta hospital after nearly drowning in the singer’s swimming pool. The AP reports that the boy’s arm became lodged in a pool drain while trying to retrieve a toy that had become stuck. An aunt and housekeeper could not dislodge the boy’s arm, and screamed for help. A subcontractor working at the home came to their aid, and performed CPR.
Usher Raymond V is the eldest of two sons Usher has with Tameka Foster. Usher’s stepson with Foster, Kyle Glover was declared brain dead after being hit by a rented jet ski on July 21, 2011.
An Atlanta police department spokesman stated that Usher Raymond the V was “conscious, breathing and alert” as the ambulance arrived to take him to the hospital. The importance of someone on the scene being versed in performing CPR cannot be stressed highly enough.
According to ABC News, Tameka Foster has filed for an emergency custody request as of late yesterday. Emergency custody orders are used when it appears to the court that removal of the child is in his or her best interest.
