Things got emotional at the Concord Music Hall in Chicago, IL earlier this week, when Amy Helm brought out guitar wizard Luther Dickinson during her band’s opening set performance. Helm, the daughter of famed drummer Levon Helm, has been opening up select shows for supergroup The Word, and The Word/North Mississippi All-Stars guitarist Luther Dickinson sat-in with Ms. Helm for a rousing tribute to Levon.

The song of choice was “Atlantic City”, a song originally written by Bruce Springsteen but memorably covered by The Band. The Band certainly made the song their own, and Amy Helm did just the same for this memorable moment.

“Atlantic City” has been a popular song choice as of late, as Greensky Bluegrass regularly covers it, and Joe Russo’s Almost Dead performed a version that segued into “I Know You Rider” a couple weeks ago at the Brooklyn Bowl. You can watch that footage here.
