While The Grateful Dead were busy celebrating July 4th in Chicago, Dave Matthews Band hosted a similar party at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) in Saratoga Springs, NY last night. With the Dead’s 50th anniversary in mind, Matthews called on legendary banjoist Bela Fleck for a spot-on rendition of the Dead’s masterpiece, “Friend of the Devil”.

Fleck joined in for a number of tunes throughout the show, and the Lovely Ladies also helped out for a number of songs in the second set, including a rendition of the Talking Heads’ “Burning Down The House”. DMB will continue their summer tour in Clarkston, MI next Tuesday, July 7th.
